Serb stabbed, incidents in K. Mitrovica
30 December 2008 | 18:04 -> 21:05 | Source: B92, Beta, Tanjug

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA — After two Albanians stabbed a 16-year-old Serb with a knife in Kosovska Mitrovica this afternoon and incidents that ensued, the situation is now calm.

Automatic gunfire was heard as an Albanian-owned store was set on fire near the bridge on the Ibar River which divides Kosovska Mitrovica into its northern, predominantly Serb, and southern, Albanian part.

The [stabbing] victim, Nikola Božović, was taken to hospital with a 10-centimeter stab wound apparently in the lumbar area of his back. Doctor Trajče Bogeski said that the boy was taken to an operating room. Bogeski declined to give any comment on how serious the boy’s condition is.

Upon hearing about the attack, the Serbs took it to the streets to demonstrate, setting Albanian business on fire and demolishing several cars with Kosovo license plates.

KPS arrested the two Albanians as they fled the crime scene, one of them with a knife.

The bridge on the Ibar has been closed, with KFOR troops posted there. A helicopter was flying over the town, Beta news agency reports.

The situation in Kosovska Mitrovica this evening was at one point extremely tense, but it stablized after KFOR increased its numbers in the streets. Kosovo police, KPS, and firefighters were in Bošnjačka Mahala where the store was burning.

This neighborhood in the northern part of the town has Albanian and Bosniak residents. There are no Serbs in the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica.

In the meantime, deputy Mayor Ljubiša Petorivić was attacked by a group of ethnic Albanians at around 17:15 CET. Petrović was trying to talk to the Albanians in order to calm the tensions, but they physically assaulted him and his car.

Meanwhile, one of the Kosovo Serb leaders and Director of the northern Kosovska Mitrovica Healthcare Center Milan Ivanović confirmed that the victim was treated at the hospital and said that he expects his condition to stabilize.

“The situation is tense, Albanians have fled to Bošnjačka Mahala. There are tensions and disturbance. The commotion has spread to the Tri Solitera neighborhood when 50 to 100 Albanians tried to cross the pedestrian bridge from the southern part in order to attack Serbs. There were clashes between the two groups. UNMIK, KPS, KFOR all got involved, and there were shots fired from automatic rifles and pistols from Tri Solitera [an apartment block],”Ivanović told B92.

Clintons Selected To Drop Times Square Ball On NYE

Former President Bill Clinton and his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, will kiss 2008 goodbye on the world’s biggest stage this New Year’s Eve.

That’s because Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced that the Clintons will have the honor of pushing the ceremonial button that signals the Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball to begin lowering at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday night.

This year’s Times Square Ball is double the size of previous balls and is covered in 2,668 Waterford Crystals…
Organizers of the New Year’s Eve party say the bigger, brighter ball will remain in place all year atop the building at 1 Times Square to celebrate other holidays including Valentine’s Day, the Fourth of July and Halloween.

Imagine it — Bill in full glory! He’s used to lowering balls onto people’s faces, but only one person at a time. Tonight he’ll have a whole city looking up as his ball descends on them. And twice the size of most balls, naturally.

The honor is equally apropos for Hillary who, many have speculated over the years, has at least one ball. One presumes this won’t be the last ball dropped by the new secretary of state.

Last but not least, according to the report above, this particular New Year’s ball — unlike any New Year’s ball before it — will stay with us well beyond New Year’s Eve, through the seasons: Valentine’s Day, Fourth of July, Halloween… It’s the ball that won’t go away. And when 2009 is finally over, there it’ll be again, making another grand entrance, for the dawning of yet another Clinton year — I mean ball year. It’s the ball for all seasons, the all-purpose ball — just like the all-purpose Clintons, those trick candles that just won’t go out, but stay with us for ever and ever…

Please note that the Clinton ball is also brighter than any before it. That’s appropriate too, as Peggy Noonan noted in her 2000 book The Case Against Hillary Clinton:

[Bill] needs to be the center of attention. Because when he is, he feels like he has a center. That’s what the people on the rope line are there for: to fill him up. Left to himself — left with himself — he is bored, anxious; he needs a hit of adulation or he will float away. (Clinton’s aides dread drawing presidential vacation duty; Clinton can’t stand being away from the limelight.)…He cannot live a genuinely private life. Neither can she. So they must be in ours.

… “‘[T]hey have little enjoyment of life other than the tributes they receive from others or from their own grandiose fantasies, and they feel restless and bored when external glitter wears off and no new sources feed their self-regard’…Two summers ago I bumped into an intimate, lifelong friend of the Clintons….The friend was on a plane with the Clintons in 1997, as they returned from a vacation. On the way back to Washington they had to stop for a ceremonial appearance. The plane landed, the ramp of Air Force One was lowered, and suddenly the Clintons, who moments before had been slumped in their seats, came alive. Now they were smiling, laughing, waving to the crowd in the lights. Suddenly the Clintons were happy.

“Fort Dix defense: Men were ‘all talk’” (Dec. 5):

Albanians have an expression that defense attorney Rocco Cipparone said perfectly describes the five men accused of plotting to attack Fort Dix.

“A barking dog doesn’t bite,” he said. “All talk, no action.”

Cipparone, who represents defendant Mohamad Shnewer, recalled that phrase yesterday while cross-examining FBI informant Besnik Bakalli, an Albanian illegal immigrant.

Bakalli befriended defendants Dritan, Eljvir and Shain Duka, who are ethnic Albanians, at the behest of the FBI. He secretly recorded months of conversations with them.

Their discussions often were dominated by talk of radical Islam, guns, and whether the men should take part in armed jihad, overseas or in the United States.

Cipparone and the other defense attorneys said that talking was all their clients ever did. Prosecutors said the men formulated a plan to kill soldiers at Fort Dix and trained for their mission by shooting on a firing range and playing paintball.

In often-combative exchanges with Bakalli, Cipparone pointed out segments of the recordings where the Duka brothers demurred or said they didn’t have the guts to go on jihad.

While discussing suicide bombings, Dritan Duka once said, “I wouldn’t do it. I will never do it.”

On one recording, Eljvir Duka said Islam could not be spread by violence.

“It’s not by the sword only,” he said. “You can’t force them to come to Islam.”

But Bakalli accused Cipparone of cherry-picking the transcripts without providing the context. He repeatedly tried to offer longer answers, only to have Cipparone cut him off.

Defense attorney Michael Huff, who represents Dritan Duka, began his questioning yesterday by probing Bakalli’s story of shooting a man in Albania in a “blood feud.”

Bakalli said this week that the man had been threatening his sister and that in Albania families must settle disputes violently and among themselves.

The man Bakalli shot survived, and Bakalli was convicted in absentia of firing a gun without the proper permits. Bakalli was not charged with shooting the man.

“So, in Albania are you allowed to shoot someone as long as you have the [gun permits]?” Huff asked.

“Like I said . . . Albania is not the United States,” Bakalli answered. “We have our own traditions.”

“It’s a tradition to shoot somebody?” Huff asked.

“It’s a tradition to handle your own problems,” Bakalli said.

Indeed, having a past like Bakalli’s really should have no bearing on an Albanian witness’s credibility — because it really is perfectly normal for the average Albanian to have shot or killed someone at least once. For example, no sooner did this chick meet her first Albanian than she found out he had axed someone to death by the age of 12. My friend Karol knew some Albanian kids when she was growing up in Brooklyn. Three of them turned out to be the Duka brothers.

Here is just one other item about the convictions:

5 immigrants face life behind bars for Army plot

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — Five Muslim immigrants face possible life prison terms after being convicted of plotting to massacre U.S. soldiers at Fort Dix in a case that supporters called entrapment and prosecutors said was a pre-emptive strike against terrorism.

The five men were convicted Monday in federal court of conspiring to kill military personnel but acquitted of attempted murder. Prosecutors acknowledged the defendants were probably months away from an attack and did not necessarily have a specific plan.

Prosecutors said the defendants bought several assault rifles supplied by the FBI and that they trekked to Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains to practice their shooting. The government also presented dozens of jihadist speeches and videos that the men supposedly used as inspiration.

[Executive director of the New Jersey chapter of CAIR, Jim] Sues said… “The evidence showed there was no real, honest-to-God planning for an attack on Fort Dix,” he said. “The defendants were never all in a room at one time with a map of the fort, plotting what they were going to do.”

Yes, to the defenders of stopped terrorists — whether in court, at home, or in the media — it’s always “all talk” until they actually kill their intended targets. I’m reminded of a 2005 article that appeared in Oprah Winfrey’s magazine, titled “Love and Terror,” by some schmuck named David France. Apparently, 17 year-old Yusra Abdu was only toying with the idea of doing a “suicide mission” after meeting “charismatic young rebel Hani Akad” (mastermind of several suicide bombings already) — since in Nablus, writes France, “offering to enlist as a suicide bomber was a young girl’s way of flirting.” Here is where France is indignant over the saved-from-herself girl being behind Israeli bars (ultimately for a total of just 15 months):

The two of us watch the chain swinging between her ankles as she shambles away. I can’t help thinking how old she looks at 17 — her childhood gone and her future imperiled, for all I can tell, because of a girlish crush. “She said, ‘I loved him very much,’” the soldier tells me finally. “She said, ‘Yes, I cried a lot. I cried for two months.’”

Later, in the car, the soldier says he believes she was telling the truth. Given the long mutual distrust between their communities, I’m startled: Does that mean he doesn’t view Yusra as a threat to Israel? “Is she a terrorist?” I ask.

“Sure,” he says easily. “She did talk about it twice.”

“But she says she never intended to do it. Doesn’t that make a difference?”

No, asshole, it doesn’t. Just like the Albanians above, once you’re caught you always decide you don’t really want to do it — whether you did or not. I see it on “Forensic Files” and on “The Investigators” and on “Cold Case Files” all the time when a crime is stopped before it happens ( “I could never really kill anyone,” goes the usual refrain). Immediately once in shackles and behind bars, the foiled offenders have the same revelation: “What was so wrong with my free-breathing life that I would have ruined it by doing something like this? There’s no way I would have actually gone through with something so stupid!”

Here is a courtroom scene of two women who are shocked and crushed by the verdict that their brother (the Turkish conspirator, Serdar Tatar) was actually convicted of something that they honestly don’t believe he would really have gone through with. Let their Westernized appearance be a reminder that one doesn’t have to look like a jihadi to be a jihadi. Relatedly, as in the case of Albanian nationalism’s KLA heroes, we know that one doesn’t have to be a jihadi to be a terrorist.

In closing, pay no attention to the men behind the bars! All you need to know about Albanians is how “pro-American” they are, whether they’re making you pizza or carjacking your FedEx truck. Read with Albanian accent: “Please, you no worry about the Fort Dix; those were not Albanians…Albanians no do like this…Look, we love US, we love Clinton, we love Bush, we’ll love your mother and sister too if they help us…and we’ll rape and kill them if they don’t…Look — we even make street in Bush’s honor…”:

Kosovo names street after US President Bush :

Kosovo decided Wednesday to name a central street of its capital Pristina after outgoing US President George W. Bush for his support of the territory’s split from Serbia.

Backed unanimously by Kosovo’s cabinet, Prime Minister Hashim Thaci said the move was “a sign of the huge state and national respect and appreciation” for the United States’ contribution to independence, declared earlier this year.

Located in Pristina’s downtown area, Bush Street is to be linked to the main thoroughfare named after Mother Teresa, the 1979 Nobel Peace Laureate of Albanian origin.

Separately, the government pledged 5,000 euros (7,000 dollars) towards a statue honouring Bush’s predecessor, Bill Clinton, popular in ethnic Albanian-majority Kosovo over NATO’s 1999 air war against Serb forces. […]

Stuck in traffic recently, I mused on the Obama-campaign-issued “Hope” decal affixed to the back windshield of the car in front of me.

I wondered what about life in America feels so hopeless to Obama fans, and considered the irony of the fact that socialism is the bearer of hopelessness. That is, precisely what Obama promises to bring. In the socialist society I came from, there was no incentive to work well or to create, and there was nothing to build toward or upon. Quite simply, there was no future. Here, on the other hand, the sky has always been the limit, even in hard times and no matter how “hard” times seem — something that is always cyclical in a capitalist society. In Russia, there was a glass ceiling for all, and it was lower and made of concrete instead of glass.

In conclusion, then, perhaps “hope” is what Americans are tired of. They’re tired of their lives being in their own hands, of the uncertainty that this brings. They are tired of doing and thinking for themselves, of striving without a clear direction. They’re ready for equally-distributed despair.

This World Net Daily piece from earlier in the year profiles the late American socialist, pacifist, and presidential candidate Norman Mattoon Thomas, who said the following:

The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of “liberalism,” they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.

As was pointed out in an email being circulated about Thomas, this is precisely the boiling frog scenario: put a frog in boiling water and it’ll jump out. But put it in a pot of cool water, turn up the heat gradually, and the frog will boil to death.

Thomas also said: “I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democrat Party has adopted our platform.”

No wonder it was so important for Tim Russert that “Red” not denote states voting Democratic, as had been done until he switched “Red” and “Blue” starting with the 2000 election.

What’s so wrong with socialism, in a sentence? From Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with Socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”

On a related note:

Son of Soviet spies calls on ‘progressive’ Democrats to plunge America into socialism

The activist son of a notorious pair of convicted Soviet spies is urging a mass “progressive” movement to pressure Barack Obama toward enacting policies that make America more socialist.

“All the stories about Obama’s economic team and his economic instincts mean is that we on the left have to shout loud and clear to make the policies move in our direction,” writes Michael Meeropol on the far-left leaning Rag Tag blog.

Meeropol was born Michael Rosenberg, son of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, the first civilians executed for espionage in American history. Though many have long claimed the couple was innocent, the Rosenbergs were found guilty of conspiracy to commit espionage for passing information about the atomic bomb to the Soviet Union.

After the execution of his parents, Meeropol was adopted by Abel Meeropol, a liberal activist and writer.
Meeropol, who is involved in an organization that includes among its ranks former Obama mentors, has now called for a mass activist movement modeled after the Communist-led labor “people’s organizations” of the New Deal-era that were instrumental in bringing about drastic concessions from President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

He adds, “Joe Hill said, ‘Don’t mourn for me, organize.’ We should say, ‘Don’t mourn Obama’s leanings – organize to push him the other way.’”

The New Zeal blog documents that Michael Meeropol has connections to Obama mentors through the Movement for a Democratic Society, a far-left leaning activist organization. Meeropol is a leading member of the MDS alongside former Weathermen terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, whose deep connections to Obama sparked controversy during the presidential campaign.

And so the perpetual questions resurface: Was it wrong to kill the Rosenbergs? Was it right to kill the Rosenbergs? Did we kill enough Rosenbergs?

UK: Muslim man strangles, stabs, and slits throat of “petite” 19 year-old Catholic girl (from November):

A TEENAGER was brutally murdered by her boyfriend’s Muslim flatmate because he did not approve of him going out with a Catholic.

Lidia Motylska, 19, was strangled in an alleyway in Leeds by Iraqi immigrant Abobakir Jabari who objected to his Kurdish flatmate’s relationship with her.

Yesterday Jabari, 39, who was given British citizenship in 2005, pleaded guilty at Sheffield Crown Court to murdering the petite Polish teenager.

The court heard he garrotted her from behind, using the cord from his tracksuit bottoms, before inflicting “gratuitous” wounds on her lifeless body. He stabbed her repeatedly in the chest and stomach and slit her throat.

Sentencing Jabari to life imprisonment with a minimum tariff of 19-and-a-half years, Mr Justice McKinnon said the murder involved an exceptional degree of violence.

“There is a suspicion that you lured this young woman to her death and marked your disapproval of her and her relationship by gratuitous violence upon her,” he said.

In July 2004 he began working at Symphony Kitchens in Gelderd Lane, Leeds.

Through his work, he met both Miss Motylska and Ajeen Jabaridia, a fellow Kurdish Iraqi who moved in with him at a flat in Oatland Heights in the Little London area of the city.

But he was to become increasingly hostile when the pair became romantically involved.

Prosecuting, Simon Myerson QC said: “He disliked the fact that his Kurdish friend was going out with a Polish Catholic.

“He did not like Lidia to sleep at their flat. He disapproved of Lidia’s behaviour in public and thought it seemed sexually provocative.”

He went on: “He told her that Ajeen should not be seeing her because she was a Polish and Catholic girl.”

Miss Motylska, who lived with her mother Renata in Beeston, Leeds, thought she might be pregnant with Mr Jabaridia’s child, the court heard, though this turned out not to be the case.

On the evening of the murder in October last year, she had arranged to meet Jabari and got off a bus near his home at 6.45pm.

Ten minutes later, two passers-by called 999, reporting that they had seen a woman on the ground in an alleyway in Lincoln Green, with a man sitting over her “grunting” and holding her around the neck.

When police arrived at 7pm, the teenager was dead, with deep stab wounds and her throat slit “from ear to ear”.

Immediately after the attack, Jabari set about creating an alibi by inviting friends to his flat to watch Arsenal play Slavia Prague in a Champions League football match.

A keen Arsenal fan, Mr Jabaridia had tried to telephone his girlfriend each time the team scored, but got no reply. He and Miss Motylska’s mother reported the teenager missing the next day. […]

So probably here’s the real story: Abobakir was upset that his friend, and not he, got the hot young tail. While jealousy, arousal and sexual insecurity are normal human emotions that non-primitives have learned to deal with and keep in check, when a Muslim gets them, he has to kill the object of his erections.

He then lends a higher meaning to his base instincts: feelings of arousal, then rejection, and therefore violence, by saying he “disapproves” of the person’s “provocative” behavior. And that it’s “wrong” for a Muslim to date a Catholic. It all rather elevates the whole base and grisly affair, doesn’t it. I’ve mentioned several times the “do-it-for-Allah” cloak that is used to elevate Muslim criminality above the sadism that underlies it no less than sadism underlies the crimes of any other serial killers or mass murderers. In this case, would a Muslim proud of his deeds, who believes he’s done the right thing and killed the girl for good reason, stage an alibi so premeditatively?

Now, let’s talk about what kind of Eastern European family doesn’t steer its daughters away from getting tangled up with the Muhammedan phenomenon sweeping over their society. What kind of old-country folks would be so tone-deaf to what Muslims are reaking upon Western society, most glaringly in the UK where this Polish family resides? Perhaps an Eastern European immigrant type that sees the Muslim war on the West as a “Jewish” problem, and who may even understand why Muslims might hate Jews, given that so many people in the country they come from do as well. So Muslims can’t be all bad, can they? On at least one common, fundamental level — that naturally the Jews are ultimately responsible for everything bad that’s happening — Muslims perhaps sound reasonable enough.

Lidia’s boyfriend wasn’t “like that,” but as we know, it often takes no more than one degree of separation between one that isn’t like that and one that is. And so, sure enough, the Polish Catholic got herself killed by dating one that isn’t like that.

UK to import 5,000 Pakistani butchers

LONDON - Over 5,000 butchers from Pakistan would get employment in the halal meat industry of UK through Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between National Halal Foods Group (NHFG) of UK and Overseas Employment Cooperation of Pakistan.

JihadWatch’s Robert Spencer asks, “Is this really the time to be talking about bringing large numbers of Pakistani butchers into the West?”

Well if you’re going to let yourself get butchered by Muslims, as Britons are intent on doing, it’s better to have experienced professionals do the job. So that you don’t have to go through what these animals do every Eid al-adha and end up with scenes like this:

Seriously, Brits, put yourself in their hoofs. You already are.

On the other hand, since “halal” essentially means “kosher,” and plenty of Muslims buy Kosher, why not just import some Jewish butchers and keep things safer for everyone?

While Britons are importing Pakistani butchers, the Pakistanis’ original victims, the Indians, are trying to warn the West. From Atlas Shrugs:

To the extent that one can like people as a group, I’ve always liked Indians, but now I love them.

Under the Clinton administration, coming back to a White House near your, we favored Muslim Pakistan while giving India the shaft again and again. Sort of how we’ve been giving Serbia the shaft in favoring a Muslim Greater Albania and Muslim Greater Bosnia. All the while, the Albanians’ and Bosnians’ original victims, the Serbs, have been trying to warn us — just like Pakistanis’ original victims, the Indians, are doing.

The good thing about importing enough types of immigrants is that they practice less self-censorship, given the PC protections they enjoy, and there’s always a rival immigrant group that they openly hate and are able to say about that group what the rest of us aren’t allowed to. So we still have free speech in at least some quarters. (O what one Indian cab driver told me he said to a Muslim cab driver when he caught him washing his feet before prayers in the men’s bathroom sink at the airport!)

I’ve often mentally scripted a sketch in which a female host is interviewing an imam or other Islamist official, and asks questions such as, “Does Islam allow manicures?” “How about shaving one’s legs? Is that permissible?” “And what about having legs in the first place? If she covers them, is it OK for a woman to have legs?” The questions would get gradually more ludicrous while the imam would of course be unamused, answering seriously each time.

Before I had the chance to suggest the funny sketch to any SNL writers or producers, lo and behold it’s no longer a sketch, but reality:

…The Khalid Bin Al-Walid Mosque near Kipling Ave. and Rexdale Blvd. serves as the religious authority for eight Somali women complaining to the Canadian Human Rights Commission that UPS Canada Ltd. violated their religious rights at a sorting plant. The mosque, founded in 1990 and serving upwards of 10,000 people, preaches strict adherence to sharia, or Islamic law, and no compromise with the West.

Teachings on the mosque’s website,, refer to non-Muslim Westerners as “wicked,” “corrupt” and “our clear enemies.”

Sometimes Jews are singled out.

“Is it permissible for women to wear high-heeled shoes?” begins one posting in question-and-answer format. “That is not permissible,” comes the reply. “It involves resembling the Disbelieving Women or the wicked women. It has its origin among the Jewish women.”

“What is the ruling on subscribing to sports channels?” another question begins. “Watching some of the female spectators, when the camera focuses on them time after time” stirs “evil inclinations,” the lesson reads. “Some (players) may not even believe in Allaah.

In September, a Canadian Human Rights Tribunal heard two weeks of testimony from eight mosque members alleging “Islamophobia” at the company’s west Toronto plant. Three final days of testimony are scheduled for next week.

The eight women, who lost their jobs at UPS, say Islam dictates that they wear a full-length skirt for modesty. The courier company insists that any skirt be knee-length for safety, as workers climb ladders up to 6 metres high.

Under their skirt, the women wear full-length trousers but say they do not want the lower part showing in case the shape of the calf can be discerned. […]

If you don’t want the shape of your calves to be discernable, I recommend Twinkies.

Muslim employees get last laugh: Plant must pay $365,000 to Muslims fired for walking off job

MINNEAPOLIS — Under a settlement to a federal lawsuit, up to 100 Somali Muslims who are current or former workers at Gold’n Plump Inc. will receive a total of $365,000.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed lawsuits against St. Cloud-based Gold’n Plump and the Work Connection Inc., an employment agency in St. Paul, which handled some hiring for the plant.

Under the settlement, Gold’n Plump agreed to pay $215,000 to workers who were terminated for taking prayer breaks.

The Work Connection will pay $150,000 to workers who were asked to sign a form acknowledging that they might be required to handle pork, which many Muslims consider unclean….

The Duggar Family of Arkansas, on whom a TLC show titled “17 and Counting” is based, just had their 18th child and are ready for more. A poll next to the AP article about the birth asks: “Should the Duggars have more kids?”

Given that this is what we’re up against —

I’d say yes. Definitely.
