The point of Kosovo independence gets louder:

Reports: Explosion blows up Serb police jeep in tense south

BELGRADE, Serbia: Serb news reports say a powerful explosion has blown up a police jeep in the country’s tense south bordering Kosovo. No one was injured.

Local media quoted police as saying a blast occurred late Friday outside the police headquarters in Bujanovac, about 200 kilometers (120 miles) south of Belgrade.

Witnesses said the explosion also damaged nearby buildings and cars. Beta news agency reported that a special police team examined the scene Saturday. There was no immediate indication who was behind the explosion.

The region was the scene of an ethnic Albanian rebellion in late 2000. The months-long conflict ended in a Western-brokered peace deal, but tensions are still simmering.
